Modi’s Idea of India

How do I describe this article? The article touches on the birth, sustenance and possible destruction of "right wing ideology". Pankaj Mishra has expanded that very same formula to Russia, China, Japan and others. Good reference material. I am still working on my article, "For every Muslim ass, there is a Hindu, Christian, Jewish, and Buddhist ass." The right wingers like Tea Party, Talibans, RSS, Evangelists, Jamaat Islami , hard core Zionists, and the militants outfits Al-Shabab, Pakistan Talibans, Settlers in west bank, Bajrang Dal, Shiv Sena,  Jhangvi,  ISIS are some of the most insecure people on the earth, they are always conspiring, and scheming to annihilate the others. They are just unable to deal with the conflict and have not grown up to be men (or women)to dialogue,  and instead are stuck in primacy of using paws, fangs and horns. They keep everyone on the toes, frighten others and are severely frightened themselves.

Modi’s Idea of India

Credit Francesco Bongiorni
India, V.S. Naipaul declared in 1976, is “a wounded civilization,” whose obvious political and economic dysfunction conceals a deeper intellectual crisis. As evidence, he pointed out some strange symptoms he noticed among upper-caste middle-class Hindus since his first visit to his ancestral country in 1962. These well-born Indians betrayed a craze for “phoren” consumer goods and approval from the West, as well as a self-important paranoia about the “foreign hand.” “Without the foreign chit,” Mr. Naipaul concluded, “Indians can have no confirmation of their own reality.”

Mr. Naipaul was also appalled by the prickly vanity of many Hindus who asserted that their holy scriptures already contained the discoveries and inventions of Western science, and that an India revitalized by its ancient wisdom would soon vanquish the decadent West. He was particularly wary of the “apocalyptic Hindu terms” of such 19th-century religious revivalists as Swami Vivekananda, whose exhortation to nation-build through the ethic of the kshatriya (the warrior caste) has made him the central icon of India’s new Hindu nationalist rulers.

Despite his overgeneralizations, Mr. Naipaul’s mapping of the upper-caste nationalist’s id did create a useful meme of intellectual insecurity, confusion and aggressiveness. And this meme is increasingly recognizable again. Today a new generation of Indian nationalists lurches between victimhood and chauvinism, and with ominous implications. As the country appears to rise (and simultaneously fall), many ambitious members of a greatly expanded and fully global Hindu middle class feel frustrated in their demand for higher status from white Westerners.

Narendra Modi, India’s new prime minister and main ideologue of the Hindu-nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party, is stoking old Hindu rage-and-shame over what he calls more than a thousand years of slavery under Muslim and British rule. Earlier this month, while India and Pakistan were engaging in their heaviest fighting in over a decade, Mr. Modi claimed that the “enemy” was now “screaming.”

Since Mr. Naipaul defined it, the apocalyptic Indian imagination has been enriched by the exploits of Hindu nationalists, such as the destruction in 1992 of the 16th-century Babri Masjid mosque, and the nuclear tests of 1998. Celebrating the tests in speeches in the late 1990s, including one entitled “Ek Aur Mahabharata” (One More Mahabharata), the then head of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (the National Volunteers Association, or R.S.S), the parent outfit of Hindu nationalists, claimed that Hindus, a “heroic, intelligent race,” had so far lacked proper weapons but were sure to prevail in the forthcoming showdown with demonic anti-Hindus, a broad category that includes Americans (who apparently best exemplify the worldwide “rise of inhumanity”).

A Harvard-trained economist called Subramanian Swamy recently demanded a public bonfire of canonical books by Indian historians — liberal and secular intellectuals who belong to what the R.S.S. chief in 2000 identified as that “class of bastards which tries to implant an alien culture in their land.” Denounced by the numerous Hindu supremacists in social media as “sickular libtards” and sepoys (the common name for Indian soldiers in British armies), these intellectuals apparently are Trojan horses of the West. They must be purged to realize Mr. Modi’s vision in which India, once known as the “golden bird,” will “rise again.”
Mr. Modi doesn’t seem to know that India’s reputation as a “golden bird” flourished during the long centuries when it was allegedly enslaved by Muslims. A range of esteemed scholars — from Sheldon Pollock to Jonardon Ganeri — have demonstrated beyond doubt that this period before British rule witnessed some of the greatest achievements in Indian philosophy, literature, music, painting and architecture. The psychic wounds Mr. Naipaul noticed among semi-Westernized upper-caste Hindus actually date to the Indian elite’s humiliating encounter with the geopolitical and cultural dominance first of Europe and then of America.

These wounds were caused, and are deepened, by failed attempts to match Western power through both mimicry and collaboration (though zealously anti-Western, Chinese nationalism has developed much more autonomously in comparison). Largely subterranean until it erupts, this ressentiment of the West among thwarted elites can assume a more treacherous form than the simple hatred and rejectionism of outfits such as Al Qaeda, the Islamic State and the Taliban. The intellectual history of right-wing Russian and Japanese nationalism reveals an ominously similar pattern as the vengeful nativism of Hindu nationalists: a recoil from craving Western approval into promoting religious-racial supremacy.

The Russian elite, created by the hectic Westernizing ventures of Peter the Great, was the first to articulate the widespread sense of inadequacy and failure created in societies trying to catch up with the modern West. In 1836, Pyotr Chaadaev argued in “First Philosophical Letter” that, “We belong neither to the West nor to the East, and we possess the traditions of neither.” His eloquent self-pity, which shook up Pushkin as well as Gogol and Tolstoy, inaugurated the semi-Westernized Russian elite’s tormented search for a native identity to uphold against the West.

In the 1920s, Russian thinkers exiled to Paris and other Western capitals by the Bolshevik revolution tried to reconfigure Russia’s place between Europe and Asia with a doctrine they called Eurasianism. While approving of a monolithic economy and one-party rule, these hypernationalists exhorted a religious revival and unity across Russia to combat evil influences from the immoral West.

In an astonishing development, their grandiose intellectual conceits have enjoyed both political imprimatur and popularity since the end of the Cold War, after Russia’s apparent deception by a triumphalist West. Today, while annexing Crimea and throttling domestic critics, President Vladimir Putin quotes the religious theorist Nikolai Berdyaev, author of “The Russian Idea.” And his cohorts in the media and the Orthodox Church circulate conspiracies that present the West as intent upon humiliating Russia with the help of NGOs, journalists, homosexuals and Pussy Riot.

The perils of such ideological inebriation had already been illustrated by Japan’s descent into unhinged anti-Western imperialism in the early 20th century. As Japan grew stronger, partly with the help of Western imperialists, only to bump up against their presence in Asia, the obsession with beating the West at its own game intensified. Like the votaries of the Russian Idea, many Japanese thinkers became as frantic about defining Japaneseness vis-à-vis the West as with championing strict state control of domestic society.
The catch-all concept of kokutai — which roughly translates as “national polity embodied by the emperor” — asserted Japan’s evidently unparalleled virtues. Philosophers of the Kyoto School, like Nishida Kitaro and Watsuji Tetsuro, made more ambitious attempts to establish that the Japanese mode of cognition through intuition was both different from and superior to Western-style logical thinking. Such supercilious nativism provided the intellectual justification for Japan’s brutal assault on China in the 1930s, and then the sudden attack on its most significant trading partner in 1941.

Today, against the backdrop of a severe crisis of capitalism, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, like Mr. Putin, is asserting an unapologetic nationalism. Vowing to “take back Japan,” partly by revising the country’s pacifist Constitution, and disowning its previously expressed guilt for wartime brutalities, Mr. Abe has stoked tensions with China.
This is just the kind of retrograde 1920s-style nationalist dogma that is making a big comeback in India, especially since last year, when Mr. Modi, a close ally of Mr. Abe, overcame the taint of various suspected crimes to launch his bid for supreme power. Interestingly, it is not the R.S.S.’s khaki-shorts-wearing volunteers but rather quasi-Westernized Indians in the corporate-owned media and mysteriously well-funded think tanks, magazines and websites who have provided the ambient chorus for Mr. Modi’s ascent to respectability.

India’s recent economic travails and diminished international standing have frustrated these rising Indians’ sense of entitlement, provoking them to lash out at such handy scapegoats as “racist” and “Orientalist” Westerners and Indian libtards and sepoys. Typical of their ersatz nativism is a book entitled “The New Clash of Civilizations,” which gleefully heralds India’s hegemony worldwide. It was written by Minhaz Merchant, the Anglicized former editor of a defunct lifestyle magazine called Gentleman and now a self-appointed publicist for the prime minister. Many such “Modi Toadies,” as Salman Rushdie calls them, had Western tails once, like the Harvard-economist-turned-book-burner.

Others still cling to those tails, such as the wealthy businessman called Rajiv Malhotra, hailed by Mr. Modi for “glorifying our priceless heritage.” Mr. Malhotra routinely puts out, from his perch in suburban New Jersey, popular screeds asserting that American and European churches, Ivy League academics, think tanks, NGOs and human-rights groups are trying to break up Mother India with the help of both dalits and sepoy intellectuals.

Lest he be accused of irrationality, Mr. Malhotra also claims that the intuitive Indian worldview is not only different from but also cognitively superior to the logic-addled Western outlook. Mr. Malhotra has worked up his own version of the Russian Idea and kokutai with some piffle about the “integral unity” of Indian philosophy, a notion that conflates very different Hindu and Buddhist traditions. In his North American redoubt, Mr. Malhotra runs workshops aimed at mass-producing “intellectual kshatriyas” (intellectual warriors).

The fantasies of racial-religious revenge and redemption that breed in Western suburbs as well as posh Indian enclaves today speak of a vast spiritual desolation as well as a deepening intellectual crisis. Even Mr. Naipaul briefly succumbed to the pathology of mimic machismo he had despised (and, later, also identified among chauvinists in Muslim countries). He hailed the vandalizing by a Hindu mob of the Babri Masjid mosque in 1992, which triggered nationwide massacres of Muslims, as the sign of an overdue national “awakening.”

There are many more such nonresident Indians in the West today, vicariously living history’s violent drama in their restless exile: In Madison Square Garden, in New York, last month, more than 19,000 people cheered Mr. Modi’s speech about ending India’s millennium-long slavery. But hundreds of millions of uprooted Indians are also now fully exposed to demagoguery. In an unprecedented public intervention this month, the present chief of the R.S.S., who wants all Indian citizens to identify themselves as Hindus since India is a “Hindu nation,” appeared on state television to rant against Muslim infiltrators and appeal for a boycott of Chinese goods.

Such crude xenophobia, now officially sanctioned in Mr. Modi’s India, seems only slightly less menacing than the previous R.S.S. chief’s wishful thinking about one more Mahabharata against demonic anti-Hindus. Japan’s expansionist gambles in China and the Pacific in the last century and, more recently, Russia’s irredentism in Ukraine show that a mainstreamed rhetoric of national aggrandizement can quickly slide into reckless warmongering. Certainly, the ruling classes of wannabe superpowers have spawned a complex force: the ideology of anti-imperialist imperialism, which, forming an axis with the modern state and media and nuclear technology, can make Islamic fundamentalists seem toothless. One can only hope that India’s democratic institutions are strong enough to constrain yet another wounded elite from breaking out for geopolitical and military manhood.

Happy Diwali - Essence of the Indian festival of Lights

Diwali is the Indian festival of lights and is celebrated on a large scale throughout India and the Indian Diaspora. It is also celebrated in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malaysia, Singapore, Guyana, West Indies, Fiji, and of course, here in the United States. Diwali is about hope, Diwali brings light, Diwali signifies end of darkness and Diwali signifies end of ignorance and beginning of enlightenment.  You can greet your friends with any one of these phrases, "Happy Diwali", "Diwali Mubarak", Diwali ki Shubh Kamnayein" and the very Best of Diwali to you.

Diwali is spelled differently, and is called by many names. There is Divali among others, and Deepavali, meaning the festival of lights. Although Diwali is a Hindu tradition, many a people of different faiths participate in celebrations - Jains, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Zoroastrians and others of India and Indian origins.
People decorate their homes with lights and Rangoli, i.e., colorful drawing in the front yard of the home, sidewalks, even roads in India with colorful powders or colorful pieces of chalk. Women and Children look forward to expressing their artistic talent in this season. Their surroundings filled with colorful lights to enliven the day, to mark the dawn of a new era in one's life.

My childhood is filled with good memories of Diwali; the sparklers, the food and everything joyous you can imagine.
A few years ago, Jyoti and Nishi Bhatia, former President of DFW Hindu Temple and President of Dallas Hindi Association respectively, asked me to speak about Diwali in a dinner gathering to a group of people from different faiths and cultures, and I cherished it, I love talking about Diwali, as its essence reflects the ideals of pluralism, and symbolizes hope and positive energy, victory of good over evil; a new beginning. It is indeed seeing the light at the end of tunnel.

Diwali Celebration is a part of the epic Ramayana, and the Ram Lila (enactment of the story on stage) is played out all night long in towns across India. I grew up watching it in front of my house, and my friends played different roles in the show. Indeed, one of my former relatives played Hanuman’s role.
It was a challenge for me to teach Ramayana to a group of people who knew nothing about it. It turned out to be a successful program. I prepared the nearly all white audience that I will be narrating the story through the power point and along will be reinforcing the names and roles of the key persons in the story and will ask them for feed back at the end. Friends, I cannot tell you the joy, the Bhatias and I felt when each one of them answered the questions from the story. They got it! It is a powerful story and takes about 30 minutes to narrate.
The epic is filled with educative tales, edifying poems, and fables. It is probably through their constant retelling in the villages over centuries that Hinduism is most efficiently disseminated from generation to generation.
Whenever a society rots with adharma (wrong path), where no one cares about the other, lying, stealing and dishonesty become rampant, Lord Krishna says,I will emerge among you and restore the righteousness and trust in the society to function smoothly." Zarathustra, Moses, Jesus, Buddha, Muhammad, Krishna, Nanak, Mahavira, Confucius, Tao and others served the same purpose. it is almost like the laws of physics ; water finds its own level, and righteousness finds its own existence.
Rama is one such incarnation who reestablished the moral code for social conduct and proper relation of mankind to divinity. He was truthful and a just king.
Diwali symbolizes hope and positive energy
  • People wear new clothes
  • Share sweets as a symbol of happiness
  • Renew the relationships
  • Strengthen the bonds
It signifies a new beginning, starting out fresh.
  • for most businesses it is the new financial year
  • An inventory of assets is taken
  • An assessment of family and relationship
  • Last harvest for the farmers
  • New things are bought
To those celebrating Diwali, I wish you, your families and loved ones Happy Diwali and Saal Mubarak.”
Today, on this blessed day, we have a blank slate to start, let's plan on filling it with doing good things for ourselves, to our family, friends, community, nation and the world until next Diwali.
What are good things? Words and actions that bring peace, Mukti, salvation, Moksha, nirvana, Nijaat and freedom to us, yes us. There is so much of joy waiting to be had. If we can remove hatred and anger towards others, forgive others and ask for forgiveness (Michami Dukadam is a beautiful phrase the Jain's use), then a blissful year is sure to come for each one of you and me.
  • May this Diwali purge your heart, mind and soul from hate, malice, anger and ill-will;
  • May this Diwali open your hearts and minds towards fellow being;
  • May this Diwali brighten your life, and may this Diwali mark the dawn of a new era;
Muslims are a big part of Diwali as well, and innumerable poets have written poetries and songs about Diwali. Here is my effort, I wrote this seven years ago on the occasion when Diwali and Ramadan were celebrated around the same time.
ये मेरी दिवाली है, ये मेरी ईद है

रमज़ान में हर बात का रिव्यू होता है
Diwali may ek ek baat ka hisab hota hai
Ramzan may her baat ka review hota hai -

Modi-fied Diwali - Questions and answers

Antara has written quite a few powerful paragraphs in the following article, but this one is a good summary, "The media needs to be more objective, and wise. For a culture of suspicion about Indian Muslims pushes us into the danger zone. The sharp polarisation between religious communities is almost complete, the alienation of the Indian Muslim is reaching perfection, there is a limit to what the Indian citizen can take. We have to stop eating away at the very pillar of pluralism that keeps our democracy safe from home-grown terror."

Recently, I answered two questions, here they are with my responses.

1." Muslim population un-proportionately increasing in the world (over population have negative effect on lives)."

It is, what can any we do?  Muslims have an average population growth rate of 1.8% per year (when weighted by percentage Muslim and population size. This compares with a world population growth rate of 1.12% per year.

There are many choices - there is a correlation between education and birth rate, higher the literacy, lower the birthrate. Look around you, Muslims who have similar education as you, have the same number of children. Wherever poverty wraps Dalits and Muslims, they have identical birthrates and high illiteracy among them.  As people of the world, we need to focus on education for all with patience, or just kill Muslims and reduce them in size if our belief supports it.

I know Hindu belief does not support killing even animals, but a few Hindus would like Muslims be banished from India and a few others need to clarify that it is not Hinduism that believes in extremism, but a few radical Hindus. The Hindu majority needs to speak out against the statements made by RSS chief, particularly the Hindu Americans - it’s like the evangelists telling us that Indian women should not wear Sarees, and if they don't bow to Jesus, then they are not Americans. That is the same stupid logic RSS guy’s use. If Muslims sing Vande Matram, then they are Indians. How stupid can one be?

My article on Vande Mataram is open to the intellectuals as well as the average Indians to search and read the article at http://MikeGhouseforIndia.blogspot.com . No one should be forced to believe in anything, and no one should be denied or forced to eat a particular food item. People should live freely. RSS should not act like ISIS, Talibans or Saudis.

2. "Majority of Muslim parents send their children to Madrasas (these children become biased towards their religion and develop narrow mindedness). Do not confuse Madrasas with Christian Missionary or Hindu Missionary (Ramakrishna mission) schools. They provide real education and give proper respect to other religion unlike Madrasa schools."

The Sachar report has identified areas where there are no schools (yes, no schools despite the policy of government to make education compulsory - I hope unlike the Congress, Modi will order opening up schools) for parents to send their children  - they have no choice but to send to any place they can learn, learn anything. We can keep blaming endlessly without looking at the situation.

Most Madrasas teach basics of how to pray and do the ritual prayers, and there is nothing wrong with that. The American Indians be it Hindu, Christians, Jains, Sikhs or Muslims will send their children to temples, mosque, gurdwaras and churches to learn about their respective religion.  I went to a Madrasa about 5 hours a week, and every one I knew in Bangalore did it too, nothing radical was ever taught to us, and almost every Muslim I knew believes in inclustion and respect for every faith and tradition like me.

We have a choice to blame Muslims or take the steps to include every Indian on the bus. Reservations have helped Dalits come up in life,  without it they would have never made it, they simply did not have the tools or wherewithal's to even go to schools. Muslims need that help as well to catch up with the mainstream, they are far behind, and at a certain point where all communities have similar education levels,  reservations can be banned for each community that has reached a certain minimum level. The smart thing to do is to be just to all, when society follows dharma, adharma will not creep in as simple as that.

Like the Political Islam, the Political Hinduism in RSS is equally detrimental to the cohesiveness and prosperity of India. The RSS is a pool of non-smart people, almost identical to the hot headed Tea party folks in America. If they are any smart, they will talk about investing in education of those who have fallen behind the national average, and will invest to get them back up into productive force instead of blaming that they are not educated. India will benefit, and each Indian will benefit if we focus on uplifting everyone to a base level and then let them compete - smart businesses can increase their consumer base while dumb assess will spend their life time blaming Muslims.

No one will find mukti, unless they find the truth themselves. Sounds like I'm a better Hindu than many Hindus out there. I'm mukt from these prejudices, this is what Krishna had advised Arjuna to do, to do his jihad against bias, krodh, hate, littleness and other ills of life and conquer them.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Siachen on the occasion of Diwali (Photo: PTI)

This Diwali was very special. The pollution levels in our cities shot up to unprecedented levels. It was expected to be about four to five times higher than normal. Instead pollution levels in Delhi were nine times higher. It defied the entreaties of sensible folk and environment-friendly slogans about celebrating the festival of lights with lights — not firecrackers that envelope us in poisonous smoke.

The day after Diwali, the Respirable Suspended Particulate Matter (RSPM) in the very important capital’s very important air stood at an alarming 531 mg per cubic metre. Chennai and Bengaluru had pretty dreadful air quality too, with RSPM 320 and 239 mg per cubic metre respectively. Clearly, ostentatious display of Hindu festivities takes preference over health and environment issues in today’s increasingly Hinduised India.

Wise of our Prime Minister to skip the fumes and go breathe in Kashmir on Diwali. So what if the Hindu festival was not particularly important in Muslim-majority Kashmir? There were Hindus there too. Just because they were less than 2 per cent of Kashmir’s population did not make their festival irrelevant! Sure, more than 97 per cent of Kashmir’s people were Muslims, but they were Indian, were they not? And as Indians, were they not supposed to be delighted that the Indian Prime Minister had come all the way from Delhi to spend Diwali with them, however irrelevant the festival may be to the locals? Were they not happy that the PM remembered them even before the forthcoming state elections were announced?

After all, we pride ourselves on our pluralism. Why did the Prime Minister not send out Id greetings to Indian Muslims — even though Muslims comprise less than 14 per cent of our population? Did he not host grand Iftar parties during Ramzan?

Excuse me? You say he did not? Come on, of course he did! Every Prime Minister since Indira Gandhi — and perhaps all chief ministers, not to mention a plethora of Central ministers of all hues — has Iftar parties! That’s an old tradition — keeps Muslims happy while they are systematically deprived of education, healthcare, justice and such stuff. No, you insist. You are sure. Well.

Actually, stopping sarkari Iftar parties is a brilliant step towards national integration. Why waste money on lavish parties when it can be put to better use like in development schemes? You say Narendra Modi and practically all his ministers skipped President Pranab Mukherjee’s Iftar dinner too. You say the PM had never ever hosted an Iftar party in Gujarat in his 13 years as chief minister. Are you sure? Well, never mind. He did send out Id greetings. So what if he wears all kinds of topis but refuses to wear a Muslim skull cap. He loves and respects Indian Muslims.

Remember what the PM said in his CNN interview with Fareed Zakaria? When asked about the Al Qaeda’s announcement regarding creating a base in India, the PM declared: “If anyone thinks Indian Muslims will dance to their tune, they are delusional. Indian Muslims will live for India. They will die for India. They will not want anything bad for India.” What a proud moment — your chest instantly swells to 56 inches!

Sure enough, the remark ricocheted around the saffron power grid. “Muslims must accept this challenge,” said the RSS. “They must prove it…” Yes, that is a bit odd. This burden of responsibility is on the 180 million Muslims in India. Our earlier PM Manmohan Singh took pride in the fact that though India had one of the largest Muslim populations, not one Indian Muslim was a member of the Al Qaeda.

The Shiv Sena, still a partner of the BJP at the time, didn’t remember that. “By taking the guarantee of patriotism of Muslims, Mr Modi has initiated a new wave,” said an editorial in Saamna, the party organ. And went on to dream big. “All problems will be solved, once Indian Muslims accept India as their motherland. Vande Mataram will be the national song for them too and they can breathe easy under the Uniform Civil Code. All obstacles in building the Ram temple will be cleared and communal work from madrasas will be stopped.”

I know, there is a leap of logic there. But holding the PM responsible for it would be wrong. A lot of people blame him for the sins of Gujarat. That is so unfair! The PM is above all that. Judge him by what he does now. Not by what he may or may not have done in a past avatar.

Besides, the Indian Muslim is used to preferential treatment. Whenever there is a terror attack Muslims are picked up, tortured and branded a terrorist. They are routinely deprived of their rights. They are treated as outsiders — never mind that their roots are centuries deep in Indian soil. They are economically and socially disempowered. They have to constantly prove their allegiance to India — whether it is an India-Pakistan cricket match or a terror attack. If they fall in love with a Hindu, it is love jihad. If they run schools for Muslim girls and boys, they are suspected of training terrorists. Many such madrasas in Bengal are being forced to close down after the Bardhaman blasts that apparently unearthed a host of terror manufacturing hubs funded by Bangladeshi terrorists.

Muslims — like other disempowered Indians — do not always get a fair trial, and when it is necessary to soothe the masses, they may be quickly hanged in secret — like Afzal Guru was.
It is a wonder that even after all this, the Indian Muslim remains untouched by “Islamic terror”. But we are doing our best to change that. To stop the slide, we need to be more sensitive towards the Indian Muslim.

The media needs to be more objective, and wise. For a culture of suspicion about Indian Muslims pushes us into the danger zone. The sharp polarisation between religious communities is almost complete, the alienation of the Indian Muslim is reaching perfection, there is a limit to what the Indian citizen can take. We have to stop eating away at the very pillar of pluralism that keeps our democracy safe from home-grown terror.

Severe Warning to Terrorists - the big red poster

CLICK ON THE RED POSTER TO VIEW IN FULL SIZE
The acronyms SOB, AH, BS and others are certainly uncouth, but they effectively communicate a purposeful message, hence I made that choice.  The Warning poster to Terrorist is a double edged sword and is at the bottom - the big red poster.

The following comments have been received against the poster below.

  1. sometimes your brain goes on strike I guess”,
  2. “Don’t jeopardize”
  3. “Who gave you the authority to represent Muslims?”
  4.  “Not appropriate and safe for you in today's hostile environment.”
  5.  “this is a mindless drivel”
  6. “You are not qualified to speak for Islam”
  7.  “Do you think your severe warning will have any darn effect on these fanatics”
  8. I second it”
  9. “it is appropriate response”.

In a learning environment, good thoughts and concrete ideas are developed with criticism and feedback; here is why this kind of response is needed.

  1. Don't bark at the religion for the acts of bad guys. Punishment is set for bad acts, to restore the trust in a given society. When a Rapist is running around in a neighborhood, everyone is apprehensive, but when the guy is caught and nailed, peace of mind is restored in the neighborhood. Instead of catching the guy, if we blame his raising, his family, his religion, his race or nation, and his imam, rabbi, pastor or pundit – we will not restore peace. I intend to aggressively communicate this idea, the right idea, and intend to speak at various law enforcement agencies as well as religious institutions.
  2. The criminal ought to know that he will be punished; we will not allow the poor alibi of religion, not at all. The Law enforcement and the media people also need to get this in their heads, the purpose of investigations and chasing the bad guys is to restore trust and not to aggravate by barking at a non-entity like Religion. The more you bark at criminal’s religion, race or ethnicity, the worse it gets. You cannot shoot, kill, hang, beat or bury the religion, then why bark at it?

  3. 72 Virgins are promised. Both the terrorists and the communicators of the problem (Media and Politicians) to the world at large have gotten it wrong. The poor guy needs to be outraged at the recruiters that he was duped, and there are no 72 virgins waiting for him, instead the SOB will rot in Jail if we Americans get him, or killed mercilessly if he is caught by the opposite party. No Geneva conventions will be observed by either the terrorist or his chasers.  The Media needs to stop the BS of propagating the falsity with nothing to back up in the Qur'an.

  4. Both the criminal and the law enforcement (coupled with the media and politicians) must be aware that it is the Sin, and not the sinner we are after. The clarity should prevent us from being unjust.  We should not be abusive in disciplining or punishing the wrong doer. As a civil society, we cannot become the very evil we want to eradicate.

  5. We should seek the criminal to lead us to the source of recruiting material and the recruiters by mitigating his punishment.
  6. The Challenge to “read the right translation/interpretation” of Qur'an applies to both the criminal and the law enforcement. I am certain, the criminal will become a genuine repenter, and the law enforcement will not buy or propagate the dished out non-sense in the market or bark irrelevantly.

This is the right time to forge peace to the society in general, and American society in particular by boldly and loudly getting people to get the message, and i.e.,

I am being assertive, never has any Muslim or other communicated this so clearly and it is time we do that, thank God for the opportunities he has blessed us with to find solutions.   If I don't, no one will speak, and I sincerely hope many of us to speak up, do it on your own or join me.

It is time we separate the evil from good.

Bottom line is to free Islam and Muslims from the stupid stereotyping, and focus on punishing the bad guys and restoring trust in the society.

You SOB, you are the damned murderer, you messed up the peace, and your ass will nailed big time.

Don’t give me the BS about your job, childhood, parents, kids, siblings, spouse, imam, rabbi, pastor or the pundit. You did it and you'll pay for it.

I am not stupid to buy in your argument that your religion made you do that, and then bark at the religion endlessly. AH, you are the bad guy and you are going to pay for it. I am here to restore justice in the society and not be detracted and scream at your religion like a stupid ass. I can hang you, shoot you, bury you and beat you up to restore justice and trust in the society, and that is my goal

Note: Mr. Terrorist, I don't condemn you, it is your sin I condemn. If you claim to be a Muslim, just remember, those guys who recruited you, and cheated you with  false promises of Hoories and virgins in paradise were dead wrong. There is no such thing nor is it mentioned in Qur'an, instead you will rot in jail for life. Would you turn in your recruiters for cheating you? Would you read the correct translations of Qur'an, we might minimize your sentence?

This should be the attitude of Law enforcement
